Dr. Peter Levine
Peter Levine developed the Somatic Experiencing approach through many years of study in stress related biophysics from UC Cal. Before Cal Levine received a doctorate in psychology from International University. The development of this Somatic approach to healing trauma has taken over 40 years, and includes the integration of many other body-based healing modalities.His work has effected countless cultures, organizations, and institutions, such as; the Hopi Guidance center in Second Mesa Arizona, NASA, the Institute of World Affairs Task Force; “Psychologists for Social Responsibility”, the APA initiative for first responders to large-scale natural disaster and Ethno-political warfare. He is on the ‘distinguished faculty’ of Santa Barbara Graduate Institute.
Peter Levine, PhD, holds advanced doctorate degrees in both psychology and medical biophysics. Levine’s original contribution to the field of Somatics was honored in 2010 when he received the Lifetime Achievement award from the US Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP).
